A burst pipe in Douglasdale was caused by a steel main that has experienced repeated failures over the past three years. Johannesburg Water responded promptly to the incident on Sunday, 29 March, completing repairs later that evening. After closely monitoring the site, backfilling was carried out on Monday, 30 March.

Teams remain on site on Tuesday, 31 March, working diligently to clean up, restore normal conditions, and ensure the safety of residents.
